TradeSkillInfo Updated to Version 2.3.10

The Legion expansion pre-patch is upon us and as usual with a massive update such as this a whole load of addons will need a whole load of updates.

It has been a very long time since the last news article about a TradeSkillInfo update (despite the amount of updates the addon has received since then) and today’s post marks the first working version for Patch 7.0.3.

There has been quite a large number of changes with the Legion pre-patch. The professions UI has been completely redesigned into a “double-wide” window for easier navigation and now has “Learned” and “Unlearned” tabs that show all of the available recipes in the game as well as an idea where to find them. This change does make some features in the Browser module somewhat redundant however. Action will be taken in the future to discern which features can be ported to use Blizzard’s new API or which ones could be pruned altogether.

Unfortunately not everything is good news. The skill level and profit margin labels have been disabled on the professions UI for the time being. This is a temporary change while I figure out the best way to make it work with the new window and the info is still available on the Browser module.

The datamining script used to gather recipe information also received some love. The script now only retrieves information from WoWhead instead of GetBuffed as their database has proven to be unusable as of late especially with the Legion pre-patch. A huge thanks goes to WoWhead and the staff who allow me to abuse their website like this. I will be making more tweaks over time to speed up and streamline the mining.

You can download this new version of TradeSkillInfo from Curse or WoWinterface. As always, if you find any problems feel free to get in touch.

See you on the Broken Isles!

HandyNotes Lunar Festival Updated to Version 1.4.2

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2016 has been kind to you thus far.

Today marks my first addon update for the year as HandyNotes Lunar Festival received a reasonable update well in advance for this year’s Lunar Festival in-game event. While there hasn’t been very many large changes, the code is now in line with my Hallow’s End plug-in which received several updates in October last year.

HandyNotes Summer Festival Updated to Version 1.1

After a two-month long break from World of Warcraft, I return bearing gifts!

Today’s gift is a significant update to HandyNotes Summer Festival. While end users will likely not notice any difference, a lot the addon’s code has been changed in a similar way to a HandyNotes for Lunar Festival update earlier this year.

Most notably, the addon now has an “automatic on/off switch” that makes use of the in-game calendar. HandyNotes Summer Festival has gained sentience and is now able to detect when the event has started and will place marker icons on the worldmap and minimap without requiring players to log out or reload the user interface. Similarly, the addon will also hide the icons automatically after the event has ended.

The way the addon handles bonfires you have already visited has also been overhauled. Blizzard’s IsQuestFlaggedComplete() API has proven to be unsuitable for our needs, so the addon now uses an internal table of completed quests that is updated every time a quest is completed. This new method should fix marker icons remaining on the minimap after you visit a bonfire.

HandyNotes Summer Festival is available to download from its usual page on Curse. If you want to report an error or request a new feature then please submit a support ticket on either WoWace or GitHub, or leave a comment here or on the download page. I read every message I receive and do my best to resolve problems as soon as possible.

The 2015 Summer Festival began yesterday and will end on July 5th. Good luck!

Official Changelog:
v1.0.1 to v1.1

  • Flagged as up-to-date with Patch 6.1.
  • Added an “automatic on/off switch” to enable/disable the addon when the Midsummer Fire Festival begins/ends.
  • Added icons to show Zidormi‘s location in Dustwallow Marsh and the Blasted Lands. Talk to her if you can’t find the bonfires in those zones.
  • Fixed bonfire markers remaining stuck on the minimap after visiting that bonfire.
  • Fixed bonfire markers not showing on the worldmap due to terrain phasing.
  • Fixed TomTom waypoints not working properly.
  • Improved tooltip text slightly.
  • Removed Cartographer support.

Redprints Updated to Version 1.1.2

Today’s update to Redprints is a minor maintenance release which fixes a small bug introduced with WoW Patch 6.1.

The [Salvage Yard, Level 1] blueprint was added to the blueprints vendors in this patch but Redprints did not have this blueprint in its database. The blueprint was only obtainable as a reward from the [Flame On] quest in Spires of Arak, but was added to vendors in case the player sold the blueprint by accident.

Version 1.1.2 of Redprints fixes this issue, so the blueprint is coloured in correctly with every other blueprint on sale.

The new version can be downloaded from Curse and will be available on WoWinterface soon. If you have any questions or feedback then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

HandyNotes for Lunar Festival Updated to Version 1.2

The annual Lunar Festival will be starting once again, this time on February 16th rather than the usual early January. In preparation of the event’s arrival, a new version of HandyNotes for Lunar Festival was made available this morning.

This is a fairly major update which includes an “automatic on/off switch” of sorts. The addon is now able to detect when the event has started and will place marker icons on the worldmap and minimap without requiring the user to log out or reload the UI first. Similarly, the addon will also hide the icons automatically after the event has ended.

The way the addon handles Elder NPCs you have already visited has also been overhauled. Blizzard’s IsQuestFlaggedComplete() API has proven to be unsuitable for our needs, so the addon now uses an internal table of completed quests that is updated every time a quest is completed. This new method should fix marker icons remaining on the minimap after you visit an Elder.

These changes should make HandyNotes for Lunar Festival better than ever before, however if you encounter any problems please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

The new version of HandyNotes for Lunar Festival is available to download from Curse and requires HandyNotes to work. Remember that the map pins will only appear while the Lunar Festival is active!

The 2015 Lunar Festival will start on February 16th and will end on March 2nd. Good luck!

Official Changelog:
v1.1.5 to v1.2

  • Flagged as up-to-date with Patch 6.0.
  • Added an “automatic on/off switch” to enable/disable the addon when the Lunar Festival begins/ends.
  • Added an icon that shows Zidormi‘s location in the Blasted Lands. Talk to her if you can’t find Elder Bellowrage.
  • Fixed an unclickable menu entry for users who don’t have TomTom installed.
  • Fixed icons remaining stuck on the minimap.
  • Removed Cartographer support as the addon has been dead for years.
