Introducing “Redprints”

It’s been little over a month since Warlords of Draenor went live and I am loving my Garrison. I really enjoyed living on upgrading and maintaining Sunsong Ranch in Pandaria and the Garrisons are a welcome addition to the game. In fact, I currently have three characters above Level 90 who are all faffing about inside running their Garrisons and keeping up with buildings, missions and working orders.

The only thing that bothers me is the blueprints vendor. I find it a bit confusing searching for that one blueprint I recently unlocked amongst all the others on sale. To help alleviate this, I created Redprints.

Redprints
Known and Locked blueprints are highlighted in red, making unlearned blueprints easier to find.

When browsing through the blueprints available at the blueprints vendor, Redprints will highlight all of the blueprints you already know in red. Any blueprints you have not yet learned will keep their default colour, making them easier to find.

This addon was largely inspired by a feature in ProfessionsVault that coloured tradeskill recipes green if your character can learn them.

Redprints is available for download from Curse and WoWinterface. If you have any questions or feedback then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Enjoy!

Meet the Scout

Warlords of Draenor goes live on EU servers in thirty minutes! Whoo!

This time, I’m going to do things a little differently. Every expansion launch up until now I have been mostly playing as Alliance.

This time, I’m going in as a member of the Red Team.

Arnwald, the Hunter
A great many frogs were harmed during the creation of this equipment.

Scout Arnwald was the first character I created when I began playing World of Warcraft in May 2005. I had neglected him for the last couple of years, only popping on now and again for world events and the like. I managed to get him to Level 60 before the Burning Crusade expansion launched, and pretty much stayed there for a long time. I eventually managed to get him up to Level 73 while questing with my fiancée’s Priest, and I used the free character boost that came with pre-ordering the Warlords of Draenor expansion to finally get him to Level 90.

Arnwald will be my main throughout the Draenor campaign, but I will do my best to make sure my other characters get some love as well.

Lok’tar ogar, heroes. Victory or death!

TradeSkillInfo Updated to Version 2.2.18

I am a bit behind with posting news updates here, but things are calming down now and I hope to get on top of things soon.

Today, I released v2.2.18 of TradeSkillInfo. This version includes a lot of updates to the recipe database and finally fixes a few bugs that I have been tearing my hair out over.

Please note that v2.2.18 will be the final stable update before a database overhaul that I have been planning for months. Unfortunately, this does mean that TradeSkillInfo’s saved settings WILL BE RESET as of r688-alpha and onwards. With Warlords of Draenor officially going live at midnight on November 13th, now is the time to finally put my plans into action.

If you do not want to have your settings reset, then please set your Curse Client installation to download “release” type packages instead of “alpha”. The next big stable release package will be v2.3.0 and is planned for release on November 10th.

I apologise for the inconvenience the reset will most likely cause, but due to the nature of the changes there is no possible way to convert existing settings or provide backwards compatibility.

Broker oQueue Updated to Version 1.2.1

Broker oQueue is back!

In what should be a rather unsurprising turn of events, oQueue has been resurrected and is now working with Patch 6.0.2. As such, Broker oQueue has also been resurrected.

Today’s update to Broker oQueue is only a small maintenance update to mark it as up-to-date with the Warlords of Draenor pre-patch. No new features have been added this time and all existing functionality remains the same as the previous version.

The new update is available for download from Curse and is now also available on Solid ICE! If you have any questions or feedback then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Enjoy!

Official Changelog:
v1.2 to v1.2.1

  • Marked as up-to-date with WoW 6.0.2.

Discontinuations

With the announcement of Patch 6.0 going live on October 15th, I am officially discontinuing three of my smaller projects. As of today, Broker oQueue, FuBar uClock and Colourblind Mode are now in an end-of-life state and will no longer receive updates.

The futures of oQueue and Broker oQueue were already in question and today’s announcements confirm that oQueue is officially dead. Because of this, Broker oQueue will no longer have a purpose and will cease to function.

A similar fate has befallen FuBar uClock, with FuBar itself recently being removed from Curse due to lengthy inactivity. FuBar has not received updates for a very long time due to the rise of LibDataBroker-based alternatives such as Bazooka and Titan Panel. FuBar uClock has been succeeded by its own LibDataBroker alternative, Broker uClock.

Colourblind Mode has also succumbed to the many changes arriving in Patch 6.0. Blizzard have decided to discontinue support of colour shaders in preference to a completely text-based solution. Colourblind Mode therefore also no longer has a purpose and will cease to function.

Broker oQueue, FuBar uClock and Colourblind Mode now join TourGuide: Lunar Festival and TourGuide: Midsummer Festival in happy retirement. They leave behind a legacy of satisfied customers.

I never like discontinuing projects but sometimes I have little choice. On the plus side however, it does free up some time and resources which I can apply to my other active projects instead. All of my other projects will continue to work fine when Patch 6.0 goes live next week and will continue to receive regular updates when they are needed.
